With all the stuffy, over priced steakhouses in the city no wonder Fleming's won the best of Houston best steak & wine list by citysearch. On last Friday my wife and I ate dinner at Fleming?s, from the moment the valet & the hostess welcomed us; to the friendly bartenders and servers, the service was second to none, we had one of the most wonderful dining experiences that we have had in a long time, and Talk about great food!! My wife had the ahi tuna appetizer which was very good and the chef?s fish special of redfish topped with big lumps of crab meat with an awesome lemon butter sauce, I went for the bone in ribeye, Man was that amazing!! The Mac & cheese was so good I ordered an extra order to take home! I was told by the manager that everything from the bread they bake every morning to the salad dressings and desserts; all made in house, even the chef's cut their steaks on premises, I could tell, my bone in ribeye was thick and juicy. Wine service was great too, with one hundred wines by the glass we had no problems finding some great wine. The wine list was user friendly and the server was very approachable when we had questions about wine and he was not stuck up or rude like we have seen waiters act in other fine restaurants. I needed no tie or jacket, and it was great to leave the office on a casual Friday and not be under dressed when going out to dinner! I had a great port with probably the best dessert my wife and I have ever had THE CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE!!!! My wife had a glass champagne with her peach cobbler, the place was packed so I?m sure I?m not the only one who loves this place, I stopped in again yesterday and on a Monday night it was just as packed. I had onion rings that were stacked 10 high and lobster tempura that was fantastic. I am sure to return again, not only on special occasions but on a regular basis.

I cant say enuf about this place deffenatly my favorite resterant in houston. Ive been going here off and on for the past four years and have not once gotten anything less than great service usually and not once have i gotten a bad meal here. Ive gone to other resterants and the consinstancy isnt there with the food or they dont reconize you and show you that they apreciate you comeing in and giveing them business on a regular bassis. Not here there always polite when i set up the reservations even being helpful enuf to set aside a special table. The food is always excelent ive become quite keen on the lobster tempura as an apatiser and i just have to have my fix witht the veal chop (the best ive had anywhere). The waitstaff is excellent here i dont ever feel bad if i over tip a little if you cant take care of me forget it this place makes me feel like a king everytime. Thanks Flemings for the great food and service.

I am not a hugh steak person but have been to many steakhouses that have great grilled tuna steak. I go out to eat often and I have had grilled tuna at many restaurants so please trust me when I tell you that this was the WORST grilled tuna steak I have ever had. Dinner started with the Caesar Salad. It was okay, certainly edible, but nothing to rave about because it was covered with dressing that was not very good. I guess I thought since this was a nice restaurant, it would be more like homemade classic caesar dressing. This dressing tasted like it was bottled or like something they would serve you at a place like Applebee's. Then the tuna steak came. I took two small bites and could not eat another bite. It was seared rare, how I always order it and how it was suggested. Unfortunately it was to thick to be seared. It is very rare that I have to use a knife when eating tuna steak, particularly a big steak knife. I find good grilled tuna brakes apart easily with a fork. Well not here at Flemings, their tuna required the big steak knife to saw through that big hunk of fish. The taste of it was not good either. It was cold and had no flavor.
As far as positives, I had a nice glass of wine which was suggested by the bartender while we waited for our table. My boyfriend had the prime rib. He said it was good and cooked well, but he has had better steak. The service was pretty good and friendly. A manager type person came by our table and asked us how everything was, but it was right as our food came out so I hadn't had time to taste the tuna. I was also surprised that our waitress did not ask if everything was okay since she could see if I had hardly touched my food. Even if she asked I probably would not have said anythig because I am not comfortable complaining about food at a restaurant.

My wife and I went to Flemings for Valentines Dinner. We have always enjoyed Flemings and the service has always been spot on. For Valentines we ordered the lobster pastry special for 2 ($98). Unfortunately it was soggy and bland. The wine and service were great but I guess we shouldn't have ordered the special.

My wife and I dine her reguarly. We're always seated promptly, they always accommodate our request for a booth seat adn the staff are knowledgable and helpful.

The steak is one of the best I've had anywhere in the world and the Flemings frines delivered in a cone are a must have. We'd recommdend this restaurant for any occasion or just a quiet dinner for 2 - you won't be disappointed.
